CubeXS is a leading ISP in Karachi, where I maintained and enhanced the productivity and performance of current Operations consist of Windows NT 4.0 and Red Hat Linux 6.0 Operating Systems, Cisco routers and catalysts, 3Com Switches and Hubs, LanTech Hubs, Livingston PortMasters terminal servers, Compaq Proliant 1600 Servers, TeleNet Pentium II Servers and Compaq Microcom 4000 Modem Racks. Following are the developments I have done since I join CubeXS:

Using Linux Shell scripting design a Network Management System (Client-Server model) having following major specs:
- Telnet based client, contains additional features of security.
- Users (clients) email password change interaction created between Linux and Imail (email server runs on Windows NT4.0), and login password change, interaction created between Linux and Microsoft SQL Server 6.5.
- Real time online killing of users in which interaction created between Linux and Livingston Portmaster.
- Real time users account creation in Microsoft SQL Server and Imail server without administrative privileges.
- Designed and implemented a system by which operators can change passwords of our clients using "keys" without knowing the new and old passwords.
- Designed and implemented a system by which operators can monitor different parameters status of the network without administrative privileges.
Deployed and Configured Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 for a Corporate Client for local intranet email. Besides SMTP & POP3 setup also enable MS Exchange Server 5.5 OWA (Outlook Web Access).
Implemented and configured Linux as Transparent Proxy and IP Firewalling/NAT.
Implemented Web Based Training and its securities on Apache.
Implemented extensive network monitoring using SNMP and MRTG. This includes Cisco Routers/Switches bandwidth, Dialin Users connected on Network Access Server, CPU load averages of Cisco, Linux and NT servers, and other network parameters like congestion and delays.
Deployed and configured ISDN connection for a Corporate Client on Cisco 2503 router.
Installed and configured a 2501 and 2505 Cisco Routers. Maintain them by changing its configurations and IOS as per requirement.
Implemented IP firewall on Cisco Router for network security as well as for allow/disallow different Internet services for filtering purpose.
Installed and configured a complete Mail Server for an ISP and setting up POP3, SMTP, IMAP4 with virtual email domain hosting.
Implemented and administered PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server for ISP billing, and other database related tasks.
Implemented SQUID in different scenarios as a transparent proxy server to increase the performance and responsiveness of a network in limited resources.
Implemented a complete one way satellite link inclusive of all installation and configuration of corresponding Software & Hardware.
Integrated the above one way satellite link in an existing network using Microsoft Proxy Server and proxy switcher (shell script) with SQUID running on Linux.
Designed a smart killer in shell scripting which interact to both Microsoft SQL Server and Portmaster in order to balance the network utilization. Users can be disconnected according to different policies maintained.
Implemented RadiusNT for NT4.0 and radiusd for Linux for remote dialin users authentication.
Designed and implemented complete customized Internet email solution using Sendmail, Procmail & Fetchmail for Karachi Campus of Hamdard University.
Configured and Installed complete International Fax Gateway on Windows NT, acts as a S&F gateway for local fax clients.
Implemented different CGIs for users’ specific tasks in shell scripting and Perl.

Sr. Network Engineer, Asian Technologies & Services (Pvt.) Ltd., Karachi, Pakistan Jul ‘97 to Aug’98

Designed, deployed and configured a complete ISP from scratch, in addition to a LAN entirely on Windows NT4.0. This included the following:

Configured IIS (Internet Information Server), for hosting of multiple domains and virtual domains.
Installed and configured MS Exchange 5.0 as a mail server. IMS (Internet Mail Service) was also configured in MS Exchange.
Configured RAS and RRAS (Routing and RAS) service of Windows NT (with corresponding hardware), in order to provide connectivity to dialup users.
Configured RADIUS Server (Remote Access Dial-in User Service) for Dial-in users.
Configured Name Server using DNS (Domain Name Service) of Windows NT4.0.
Configured Proxy Server, using (Microsoft Proxy, Wingate).
Installed and configured Video Conferencing software and corresponding hardware, for use on LAN and Internet Broadcasting.
Installed and configured Cisco 2511 as a router as well as Access Server, incorporating it with Windows NT4.0.
Configured Cisco Secure EasyACS, for Authentication of dial-in users.
Configured a remote Linux Server for hosting of multiple domains
Experience of registration of domains from PKNIC & InterNIC as well as hosting of domains on either NT Server or remote Linux Server
Installed and configured various LANs/Intranets at educational institutions as well as commercial organizations using Windows NT 4.0 as a Server and Windows95 as the Client machines.
